More on Rush and Gov. Jindal’s speech

February 26, 2009

Allahpundit feels a little left out over this, from Rush Limbaugh, regarding conservative disappointment in Gov. Bobby Jindal’s speech Tuesday night (emphasis added):

Because if you think people on our side, I’m talking to you, those of you who think Jindal was horrible, in fact, I don’t want to hear from you ever again if you think that what Bobby Jindal said was bad or what he said was wrong or not said well, because, folks, style is not going to take our country back.

Question: did Rush think it was “said well?” And if so, were we listening to the same speech?

Another question: since this means Rush doesn’t want to hear from me again, but he’s never heard from me before, he can’t really hear from me “again,” right? Because “again” implies a “before.” So Rush doesn’t want to hear from me “again.” But he’s never heard from me “before.”

How can I have S’More if I haven’t had anything yet!

And by the way, style might not “take our country back,” but a complete lack of style sure as hell won’t.

Just for a moment, let’s imagine it was Fred Thompson giving the GOP response Tuesday night.

Oh, yeah.

Look: one speech doth not a career make. I’m sure Jindal is just as brilliant as everybody says he is, and I’m as likely to support him in 2012 as I am to support anybody else. But Tuesday night was a wasted opportunity. Either that, or somebody’s trying some PR ju-jitsu by being intentionally bad. Keeping the hounds away from the fresh meat, maybe, so to speak. Which seems a little over-clever.

So cut it out, please. Writing and delivering a good political speech isn’t freaking rocket science.
