Come and get them.

Via Memeorandum:

LONDON A high-level Spanish court has taken the first steps toward opening a criminal investigation against six former Bush administration officials, including former Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales, on whether they violated international law by providing a legalistic framework to justify the use of torture of prisoners at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, an official close to the case said.

The case was sent to the prosecutor’s office for review by Baltasar Garzón, the crusading investigative judge who ordered the arrest of the former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet. The official said that it was “highly probable” that the case would go forward and that it could lead to arrest warrants.

Question: when I write in the title “Come and get them,” that’s clear that I’m being sarcastic and purposefully insulting, right? I’m telling them to get in their ridiculous little tin-can police cars with the donkey-bray sirens and come over to this side of the pond and arrest them, if they’ve actually got the ‘nads.

I only ask because Memeorandum had links to DailyKos and MyDD, among others, where reaction to the story was far more positive. As Le-gal In-sur-rec-tion puts it: “Needless to say, the American left is ecstatic.”

So I could see a Lefty writing the same headline, but meaning it. Conversely, there are Righty bloggers I could see writing that headline about…oh, let’s say the international community decides to prosecute President Obama years from now for causing a worldwide depression. I could see certain Righties being sincere about them coming to get him.

Just wanted to make it clear I was being sarcastic. And I’d mean it sarcastically no matter what American’s name was on the warrant.
