Yes, but Doug, at least they’re not talking about the economy!
Doug Mataconis at Below the Beltway:
The United States Senate is spending it’s time, and our money, on the vital national question of how to pick a College Football Champion.
Doug thinks this is a monumental waste of time, money, and our patience.
On the one hand, he’s absolutely right: Congress has no business whatsoever sticking their noses into this.
On the other hand: the more time Congress spends mucking around with anything other than the economy, the better. See: Coach Mike Krzyzewski.
On the other hand: if we let them muck around with this, they’ll think they’re allowed to muck around with other, even more important things.
But on the OTHER hand: I hate the Bowl Championship Series, and very much want at least a plus-one system. Maybe this could shake something loose?
But back to the first hand. Seriously, all you Congressmen and Senators, do you think your constituents think better of you for doing stupid crap like this? Because they don’t.
