Of Rule #5, YouTube, and commercials indeterminate, persuasive, and unpleasant
I’ve seen this commercial several times, mostly during the NCAA Tournament last weekend:
I like this. It may well be the best commercial I have ever seen.
Ever.
I wonder what they’re trying to sell. You’d think I’d know that, seeing as I’ve watched it…oh, I dunno. Twenty times, maybe?
Wait, I’ll watch it again:
…
Nope, still no idea. Hang on, maybe this time:
…
Nope. Maybe this time:
…
Sorry, still no clue. They could be selling front steps. Couldn’t tell you.
On the other hand, this commercial, also seen during the NCAAs:
Those are four legendary basketball coaches: Rick Pitino, Mike Krzyzewski, Roy Williams and Bob Knight, who apparently have no concept of “beneath your dignity.” I could happily have gone my entire life without seeing those gentlemen in their underwear.
I mean: yuck. Are they trying to associate their product with an unremitting gag reflex? When did that become the favored marketing strategy?
Phew. Okay, this is supposed to be a Rule #5 post, and somehow I’m thinking Bob Knight in his underwear pretty much ruined it for everybody, no matter which way your fence swings. So to bring it all back, this, via Vodkapundit:
Wonder what they were trying to sell. Hang on, I’ll watch it again…
