I can’t help but notice that Padma Lakshmi is topping Yahoo’s “Today’s Top Searches” today

Padma Lakshmi, cookbook author, TV show host, model and actress. I blogged about her commercial last week.

Does anybody else wonder if maybe George Lucas has a little crush on her? I mean, look at some of the names in Star Wars. Padme Amidala? Shmi - Anakin’s mother? That’s just a little too much coincidence for my dollar.

Here’s a little bit of random trivia about her: she was married to Salman Rushdie. You remember him. Author, wrote “Satanic Verses,” for which he was the target of a fatwa, issued by the Ayatollah Khomeini. He had to stay hidden, mostly, for a decade.

And as far as I can tell, it wasn’t golddigging on her part. She’d already been on the cover of Cosmopolitan by the time they got married.
