Look what we found in the yard the other day:
Yep, that’s a whitetail deer. Looks like a yearling. Bedding down in the twelve feet or so between my house and the neighbor’s.
That’s not the first time we’ve had deer in our yard. Two years ago, the day after Thanksgiving, we found four of them bedding down in the back. And that’s after we hunted all opening weekend and saw bupkus.
Also: yes, we are exactly the kind of rednecks who leave the Christmas wreath up even into May.
And now we’re gonna hafta leave it longer:
At least long enough for those guys to be more than just a mouthful.

Love your birdies. What kind? We’ve got chickadees nesting in the mailbox post. (They can do this because the top has rotted through and there’s a nice deep hole for them.)
What kind? Uh…small?
