If anything will kill Obamacare, it’s this
Via Malkin (and Memeorandum), Wal-Mart declares support for Obamacare!
Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the nation’s largest private employer, announced Tuesday that it would support a mandate on businesses to help expand health care coverage, an about-face from other business interests that have strongly opposed any such requirement.
Wal-Mart’s support adds serious backing to the idea of a mandate, which Democrats want to add to health care overhaul legislation.
Surely, this spells the end – not only of Obamacare, but of any attempt to nationalize/socialize America’s health care system.
I mean, come on. That sweatshop-supporting, worker-exploiting, Mom & Pop-destroying, soulless purveyor of capitalism at its foulest? If they support Obamacare, then clearly Obamacare is just another sickening freebie for Big Business and their Cohorts of Greed.
We actually had this argument in Wisconsin a while back.
See, our own lefties got mad that some Wal-Mart employees were on BadgerCare – our local version of state health care for the poor (and not so poor). It rankled that Wal-Mart, such an incredibly rich company, was “dumping” its employees onto the public dime.
Of course, nowadays, us free-market types are warning that this is exactly what employers will do if Obama’s “public option” becomes law. Employers will drop their own health insurance, because “dumping” their employees onto government health care will be simpler and, at least at first, cheaper.
Realize, O Left, that this is what you’re doing: encouraging businesses across America to do exactly what you excoriated Wal-Mart for doing just a few years ago.
