How appropriate: Favre’s working out with a high school team to get ready for the Minnesota Viqueens training camp.
UPDATE III (8-19-09) – I actually have posts on this subject that aren’t over a month old, if you’d rather read them:
- About Favre signing with Minnesota (with pictures): Favre’s gonna be all purple
- And how one more season will affect Favre’s place in the recordbooks: If Favre hadn’t come out of “retirement,” he’d be forever known as “the guy who had the second-most fumbles in the NFL.”
Enjoy.
UPDATE II - It’s done:
Brett Favre is coming back for more.
The 39-year-old quarterback turned his back on retirement for the second time in as many years, agreeing Tuesday to play for the Vikings.
UPDATE (8-18-09) - For those of you looking for more up-to-date info:
‘‘He is going,’’ Bonita Favre, his mom said. ‘‘I have mixed emotions, but I have always loved to watch him play. This time, however, I thought he would stay retired and stay home. I guess he could not do it.
‘‘He told me he would always wonder ‘what if?’ I told him I supported him.’’
Bonita Favre said her son will work out Wednesday and plans to take a few reps in a preseason home game on Friday against Kansas City.
Original post (7-17-09):
Brett Favre steps up workouts as ‘time running out’
The quarterback told the Associated Press on Wednesday that he’ll give the Vikings an answer on whether he’ll play by the July 30 start of training camp. Favre has been working out with the Oak Grove High School football team three days a week all summer, but added a Sunday workout this week.
And if working out with a high school team can’t get him ready for the Viqueens, he could always go play for the Lions. Although he might be overqualified, then.
Hat tip Grandpa Steve

Like I said after one season, we sent him back C.O.D. Now he’s your problem. Showing what he’s got in August isn’t an issue; keeping August alive in December? No chance in hell.
And no, I still haven’t forgive Namath for his comeback-of-the-week nor Vinny for signing with the Pats to retire.
