The Free State Project, Trog-style.

July 21, 2009

From Volokh, via Insty:

Serious Health Care Reform Proposal:

Let the Democrats put forward three different health care reform proposals. Let the Republicans put forward two different proposals. Find five states to volunteer. Each state adopts one of the proposals. Wait several years. See if any of these proposals worked out well, and if so, which one seems best, and why.

I’ve been touting this for years – the Free State Project, Trog-style.

Here’s how it works: we move all the conservatives from Minnesota to Wisconsin, and all the liberals from Wisconsin to Minnesota. They enact their policies; we enact ours. Wait 15 years. Compare.

Somebody will be proven right.

Whatsamatter, libs? Scared? [Insert mocking chicken noises here]

Now that is a plan I could get behind. I would be willing to send all the liberals in Florida to California and in return, accept both of the Conservatives from California here in Florida. I’d even be willing to put some money dow on the outcome.

Ruin the entire civilized world, rather than the 80% of it they already ruined?

Interesting idea. Look at NH. Freedom lovers have been moving there for years and it is the freest state in the nation. However, in NH we aren’t encouraging statists to go to VT, ME or MA.

Though, all you have to do is look at the Vermont economy. Statists have been moving to VT for years and the economy is much better in NH. Look at the border towns. You will see a bunch of stores on the NH side of the border.

What, it’s a controlled experiment. That is doing something.

we move all the conservatives from Minnesota to Wisconsin

Does that mean we have to cheer for the Packers? Because, I’m just saying, there are a whole lot of MN conservatives who would have a problem with that.

How about we just trade off counties or something? For example, I’m sure the St Cloud area would be OK with a bunch of other conservatives if it didn’t have to watch any Packers games.

I’m pretty sure the vice-versa holds too.

NoRunnyEggs: perhaps we can keep this type of unfounded right-wing ridiculousness in the South MKE suburbs, eh?

Too late; Lance is nowhere near the south MKE burbs, and our tentacles are spreading. The counter-attack cannot be stopped.

I wasn’t talking about Lance. I was talking about YOU.

And your “counter-attacks” are meaningless. Democrats have won the election and have majority control. You can sit on it until the next election, and then hope your party has a candidate that hasn’t already made themselves look a fool.
