Americans for Prosperity holding health care town halls in three Wisconsin congressional districts

August 21, 2009

Since our congressmen won’t, Wisconsin’s chapter of AFP is holding health care town halls in three different cities next week. This is from the Journal Sentinel story:

Trying to building [sic] pressure on Democratic members of Congress in Wisconsin, a conservative group will hold town hall-style meetings in late August on the health care reform bill in Congress.

The Wisconsin chapter of Americans for Prosperity, which opposes the bill, is hosting the health care meetings in districts represented by Reps. Dave Obey (D-Wausau), Ron Kind (D-La Crosse) and Tammy Baldwin (D-Madison). The group was a force behind anti-tax “tea party” rallies in the state this summer.

The Congresspeople are being invited, as are potential candidates of other parties. And:

ABC News 20/20 co-anchor John Stossel will moderate the sessions, which will feature speakers on both sides of the issue, according to AFP’s state director, Mark Block.

AFP’s email actually lists Stossel as a keynote speaker.

Here’s the schedule:

6:30 – 8:00 pm Wednesday, August 26th
Location: Madison Marriott West

11:30 am – 1:00 pm Thursday, August 27th
Location: La Crosse Center

6:30 – 8:00 pm Thursday, August 27th
Location: The Rothschild Pavilion
Rothschild, Wisconsin

The events are free and open to the public BUT you have to have a ticket. You can get one of those at www.FightBackWisconsin.com.

I’m going to try to attend the one in Madison – if I can, I’ll report on it Wednesday night.
