Nine-fingered man on Fox News – video! And the liberal counter-offensive begins
Bill Rice, the 65-year-old anti-socialism protester who got his finger bitten off at an anti-Obamacare KennedyCare rally appeared on Neil Cavuto’s show today.
Video:
He admits to having punched the guy twice – he got physical first. This could be a case of self-defense. Really weird self-defense, but still.
The second punch, the guy bit off his little finger. The finger was not reattached – too much bacteria in the human mouth, he says.
Meanwhile, the liberal counter-offensive has begun, and it centers on Medicare:
…isn’t it nice to know that the guy protesting government’s role in health care has Medicare to take care of his hospital bills?
That’s from Crooks & Liars, via Memeorandum.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but:
Some people, including Medicare recipients, will have to give up some current benefits to truly reform the nation’s health-care system, Rep. Betsy Markey told a gathering of constituents in Fort Collins on Wednesday.
…”There’s going to be some people who are going to have to give up some things, honestly, for all of this to work,” Markey said at a Congress on Your Corner event at CSU.
President Barack Obama Saturday proposed an additional $313 billion in cuts to Medicare, Medicaid and other programs to pay for health care reforms expected to cost about $1 trillion over the next decade.
…The new cuts are in addition to a $635 billion “down payment” on health care reform that Obama outlined in his budget to Congress earlier this year.
About half of that came from cuts in Medicare and Medicaid and the rest from revenue proposals such as cutting tax deductions for families that make over $250,000 a year.
Well, for crying out loud, how can this retiree – who has paid into Medicare his entire life – how dare he have the nerve to protest a vast new government program that’s going to cut into the benefits that he thinks he’s earned over the course of his lifetime? That he thinks he’s earned, because the government told him he earned it?
How. Dare. He?
And while we’re talking about this:
What does it take for one human being to bite off another human being’s finger? I mean in practical terms – how hard do you have to bite? For how long?
And from a personal point of view: do you realize, while you’re biting, that you’ve cut into flesh? That that’s human blood spurting into your mouth?
I mean: yuck. And how do you keep biting, once that starts to happen?
What are you, feral? Are you some kind of old-fashioned circus geek, who’ll eat anything put in front of you? Do you have unresolved issues from the time you missed the cut for one of those bug-eating reality TV shows?
I can understand, I suppose, that fear might trigger such an animal response in what is normally a human being – and, naturally, a 65-year-old man would almost automatically trigger that kind of fear – but why would someone so prone to fear walk through the other side’s protest?

‘He admits to having punched the guy twice’
End. Of. Story.
If he had punched me twice, he would still be in the hospital.
Wouldn’t it be the same for you?
How can you defend this thug?
I’m not defending him for getting physical – although there’s still a lot we don’t know about this story. It’s entirely possible for a 65-year-old man to feel threatened, and to feel that he’s acting in self-defense.
I am attacking the scurrilous and meritless argument that, because he has Medicare, he shouldn’t be protesting
ObamaCareKennedyCare. That’s just stupid.
