Various and sundry things about Rep. Joe “You Lie” Wilson (R-SC)
Rep. Wilson is the guy who yelled “you lie” at President Obama during the president’s Wednesday speech. His outburst might have him in trouble! Public Policy Polling reports:
In a matter of seconds Wednesday night Joe Wilson went from being pretty safe for reelection to one of the most vulnerable Republican incumbents in the country.
Wilson trails Democratic challenger Rob Miller 44-43 in a PPP survey conducted Thursday night and Friday morning. Last year Wilson defeated Miller 54-46.
But the New York Times reports:
In Washington, Representative Joe Wilson of South Carolina was sharply criticized by both Democrats and his fellow Republicans for shouting “You lie!” during President Obama’s health care address on Wednesday. But here in his strongly Republican Congressional district on Thursday, he was celebrated by many of his constituents for his outburst.
Less than a day after Rep. Joe Wilson formally apologized to President Obama over his “you lie” outburst, a campaign aide confirms to CNN the South Carolina Republican has raised “more than $200,000″ in the wake of the now-infamous moment.
The “now-infamous” moment?
Infamous, according to Merriam-Webster:
1 : having a reputation of the worst kind : notoriously evil
2 : causing or bringing infamy : dsgraceful
3 : convicted of an offense bringing infamy
Huh. Did the reporter purposely choose that word? Or does he not know what “infamous” means?
Memeorandum Memeorandum Memeorandum.
