FavreWatch, Week 2
And here I thought there was only one major record Viqueens QB Brett Favre hadn’t already broken:
Favre started Sunday for the Minnesota Vikings against the Detroit Lions, setting the league mark with his 271st consecutive regular-season start. He handed off to running back Adrian Peterson after taking his first snap.
Defensive end Jim Marshall had the previous mark, starting 270 games in a row for Minnesota from 1961-1979.
So. Good. Favre also extended his existing NFL all-time touchdowns, attempts, completions, and passing yards records; but again failed to make any progress on the all-time fumbles record. Adrian Peterson did fumble a Favre handoff. I’d wondered who would get credit for that – Favre was, after all, the last player to have actual control of the ball – but the stats have it that Peterson lost the fumble.
So Favre is still four fumbles shy of tying, and five short of breaking the record.
