Postmortems? What’s this guy talking about, “postmortems?”
The Other Smith heaps scorn on Michael Lind, who, I take it, is one of these token-type “conservative” writers just filling in some kind of affirmative action slot.
Let’s go with Smitty’s quote first:
Is it anti-intellectual of me to offer a ‘STFU’ in reply?
Answer: no. No, it isn’t. At least, not if you leave the cigarette dangling from your mouth while you say it.
Now for Lind’s quote:
The train wreck I predicted occurred during the Bush years, and the postmortems have begun.
“Postmortems?” What the hell are you talking about, “postmortems?”
Have you noticed the Tea Party movement? Oh, of course you’ve noticed it, but you haven’t noticed it. You haven’t noticed all the people – regular, average people who work and raise kids and watch football and retire – who understand the 10th Amendment. Who understand the seeping, fungal nature of Big Government “reforms” – including some of the very “successes” (skillfully debunked by the Smitster) you tout.
There’s no “postmortem” for conservatism. If anything, it was sleeping. It’s awake now.
