Breaking: Danica Patrick re-signs with her IRL team
Danica Patrick has agreed to a three-year contract to remain at Andretti Green Racing and stay in the IndyCar Series, according to a report in the Indianapolis Star.
Will this throw the proverbial wrench in the gears of her NASCAR ambitions?
Patrick, the first woman to win a major open-wheel race in last year’s Indy Japan, is finishing her fifth season in the IndyCar series and is fifth in points. She’s been rumored to be considering a move to NASCAR and still could compete in a limited number of races.
Maybe not.

I seriously doubt Danica would attempt jumping right into Cup cars. She’s smart enough and well coached enough to know that even male Indy/F1 drivers try ASA or lesser series cars first. The finesse you need for an Indy car or F1 is suited for a small frame person like Danica. It takes beef and upper body strength to handle a Cup car.
All Danica has to do is see how long it took Juan Montoya – a driver with much greater talents – to come up to speed in the Sprint Cup and she’ll realize she might even have trouble making a splash in just the truck series.
She should stick to open wheel and her soft porn ad career.
