Marge Simpson to pose nude in Playboy

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – “D’oh!” doesn’t even start to cover it.

Marge Simpson — the blue beehived matriarch of America’s most loved dysfunctional family – is Playboy magazine’s November cover, the magazine said on Friday.

Simpson, tastefully concealing her assets behind a signature Playboy Bunny chair, is the first cartoon character ever to front the glossy adult magazine, joining the ranks of sex symbols like Marilyn Monroe and Cindy Crawford.

The story says it’s all going to be implied nudity, which, at Marge’s age…that’s probably best.

I just got myself into trouble. Didn’t I.

So. Why are they putting a cartoon character in Playboy, and why isn’t it Jessica Rabbit?

Playboy said the cover celebrates the 20th anniversary of the “The Simpsons.” Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie have already been honored this year with a set of U.S. postal stamps.

The magazine promises a story inside called “The Devil in Marge Simpson” and another three pages of pictures.

A few other thoughts:

• This may be the best selling issue of Playboy ever.

• Hefner signed Marge for the shoot so his girlfriends wouldn’t mind him sitting in on the session.

• Roman Polanski was hoping it would be Lisa.

One more thing: Entertainment Weekly is asking what cartoon character you’d like to see in Playboy next. Jessica Rabbit’s the easy answer. Too easy. So’s Daphne, from Scooby-Doo. And Pebbles from when the Flintstone kids grew up – she was only a teenager then anyway, so wipe that filthy thought from your head. And just about every leading lady Disney character. So be imaginitive and don’t pick any of them.
