So whaddaya think if I nominate myself for a Weblog award?

November 14, 2009

Yeah, it seems a little…oh, I dunno, full of myself to self-nominate. But, as someone wise (or, at least, not obviously stupid) once said: If you don’t promote yourself, nobody else will.

And self-nominating isn’t against the rules. So I can live with that.

Here’s my problem: in which category shall I nominate myself? “Best Blog?” Nah. Maybe “Best New Blog?” That’s more possible, but am I really that hi-falutin’? Or maybe “Best New Political Blog?”

If only there was a “Best New Underground Blog” category.

I suppose I could show a modicum of humility (ha!) and simply accept self-nomination to one of the Technorati-authority-based categories, but therein lies another problem.

My Technorati authority, prior to their becoming the New, Improved Technorati, was…well, I don’t rightly remember what it was. Might have been higher than 50. In fact, I think it was.

If so, I should enter the “Up and Coming Blog” category.

But after their becoming the New, Improved Technorati, my authority was reduced to 1. And it’s stayed put there ever since. Maybe that’s accurate. I dunno. Thing is, with that authority, I have to enter the “Hidden Gems” category.

I’m okay with that. No problemo. Doesn’t bother me. A lot of people are whining up a California vineyard over their horribly disfigured Technorati authority, but what difference does it make, really? Just…I hate to enter one category if I should really be entering another category.

Plus there’s way more nominations already in “Hidden Gem” than in “Up and Coming.” So that’ll be harder, then.

But, if that’s where Technorati says I should be, then that’s where I’ll be.
It’s their contest. Want to support your favorite subterranean pajama-wearer? Click here, and then click on the little green circle with the white plus sign inside it.

Don’t worry. If I’m chosen as a finalist, I’ll tell you where and how to vote for me. Over, and over, and over again.

And then click here, and do the same for Bill Teach.

Oh, and hey: if anybody wanted to nominate me for a “Best New Blog” or “Best New Political Blog” or anything, don’t worry. I can take it.

I didn’t see a category for outlandish crap-farce, so I was kind of out of things.

    I voted for you already.
I looked for the category “Best Porch Manque” but I guess that’s been retired.

Mine dropped down to 1, too. It was in the 80′s. I removed the stoopid Technorati icon.

I’ll go vote for you now. :)

Mine dropped to one but they fixed a lot of them. Now it is really ridiculously high for being a new blog. I fall in the large blog category because my authority is 570. Jill’s is over 600. Yours isn’t going to be 1 for long because they keep catching the ones they messed up. I hit the plus button for your nomination though.

I dunno, dude. Did you see some of your “company” in the Hidden Gems category? Eat Me Daily, Pawcurious and IonBlarg. You sure you want to win this thing?

Mary Sue, what the what? Just looked and you’re right. The number is 1, but when I click on it, it turns into a 633. Madness!

I added one to the plus sign.
