Well, at least we know that Obama can do one thing well – prostrating himself to foreign royalty, in this case to the Japanese Emperor Akihito.

Yeah, President Obama bowed to another foreign monarch.

All due respect to Blogprof and all you other knee-jerk, neanderthalic conservatives clogging up Memeorandum with your asinine “commentary,” but I think we’re all looking at this the wrong way.

As Blogprof reminds us, the last time Obama bowed to a foreign ruler, it was the King of Saudi Arabia: an actual in-power kind of autocratic monarchy, and not a real nice one.

This time, it’s the Emperor of Japan. A figurehead with no real power.

So, sure, President Obama is still bowing to foreign monarchs. But at least this time it’s just a paper monarch. So that’s improvement, at least.
