The TrogloPundit

Just another bloviating troglodyte

Some advice on podcasts, please.

So I have this old mp3 player. Bought it from my son when he got a shiny new one. I have a lot of listening time, what with two hours commuting each day (because I hate the Earth), plus I manage to get a walk in over the lunch hour about half the time. And there are a lot of podcasts and things I’d like to hear that I just can’t listen to while I’m at work.

Here’s my problem, though: I can’t figure out, sometimes, how to get them onto my player. Sometimes I can: if I can find a link directly to the audio file, I know how to handle that. Jimmie Bise’s “The Delivery,” for example, is easily accessible (and entertaining, too).

But Charlie Sykes’ podcasts; the ones at RFC Radio (I even downloaded iTunes because it told me to, but still can’t get anything from there onto my player); all the stuff at PJTV. Aren’t I supposed to be able to get that off my computer and onto this little thing I can carry around with me?

Let the advice flow!

And while we’re at it, does anybody else listen to podcasts regularly? If so, make your suggestions. And hurry up about it, please, because I’m going hunting this weekend and won’t be back at the computer until Sunday night, probably, and I’d like to load up before I go.

  1. Everything iTunes downloads, it sends to a folder called “iTunes Music”, unless you tell it otherwise. If you poke around there, you should see a folder called “Podcasts” and that’s where all the podcasts you’ve downloaded with the program are kept. Just copy them over like you’d copy any other file.

My mp3 player works pretty much the same way. I don’t have an iPod, so I have to transfer stuff over to my SanDisk Sansa manually, like that.

  2. Lance, you should START YOUR OWN podcast! Check your email.
