Danish newspaper: Obama greater than Jesus
Y’know, being compared to Jesus probably isn’t supposed to invoke gleeful snickering. Or, in the White House, exasperated face-palming.
Via HotAir and Memeorandum, some Danish newspaper makes the claim:
On the other hand, we have Jesus’ miracles that everyone still remembers, but which only benefitted a few. At the same time, we have the wonderful parables about his life and deeds that we know from the New Testament, but which have been interpreted so differently over the past 2000 years that it is impossible to give an unequivocal result of his work.
Obama is, of course, greater than Jesus – if we have to play that absurd Christmas game. But it is probably more meaningful to insist that with today’s domestic triumph, that he has already assured himself a place in the history books – a space he has good chances of expanding considerably in coming years.
The “domestic triumph” is the health care “reform” bill getting through the Senate. Which proves that this paper understands neither Christian doctrine nor the U.S. legislative process.
Over at HotAir, Allahpundit hopes this is a case of the Danish sense of humor being lost in translation. We can also hope it’s just bad translation, period. Otherwise: wow.
Allahpundit says:
In fairness, to a left-wing atheist, I’d imagine this is a toughie.
Of course, to a left-wing atheist, the guy at the bakery who saved the last jelly donut for you (because he knows how much you like them) is greater than Jesus, too. So.
Quick question: what are the odds the White House responds to this faster and more decisively than they responded to the Christmas Day terrorist attempt?
