Did Obama blame Massachusetts on George Bush?

January 20, 2010

Via Memeorandum, President Obama had this to say on ABC’s “World News:”

“Here’s my assessment of not just the vote in Massachusetts, but the mood around the country: the same thing that swept Scott Brown into office swept me into office,” the president said in an exclusive interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos.

Okay, hang on: there’s some truth to that. A charismatic, good-looking candidate, running against the status quo and riding a tide of voter frustration into office. There are some differences, too, but let’s see the rest of the quote, first:

“People are angry and they are frustrated. Not just because of what’s happened in the last year or two years, but what’s happened over the last eight years.”

“The last eight years.” Seven of which were, of course, the Bush administration. So…people are still angry about Bush, so…they voted in a Republican. In a usually-overwhelmingly Democrat state.

Stupid voters! Taking their frustration out on the wrong people!

Y’know, Bush was in office for six years before the voters were frustrated enough to sweep Democrats into office. Okay, maybe only five years. Still. The 2002 elections were a big Republican victory. Bush was re-elected in 2004.

If Obama’s really making that comparison, it means his administration has turned the voters against him in less than one year.

He did promise change. Looks like he delivered.

It’s weird… liberals don’t believe in God, and refuse to see Him in the world, but yet see George Bush behind everything. This belief in ghosts, goblins, and evil spirts is actually a document phenonom of the left. I guess if you don’t believe in God, you’re willing to believe anything.
