At least they’re not trying to make a skinny model look even skinnier this time.
The Gothamist:
(New York Times fashion writer) Cathy Horyn decides to take down the gorgeous Christina Hendricks — the Mad Men actress known for her sexy curves… which are decidedly not concentrated in her upper arms. In her piece she writes, “Not pretty Christina Hendricks in Christian Siriano’s exploding ruffle dress. (As one stylist said, ‘You don’t put a big girl in a big dress.’)”
Here’s the pictures (also from The Gothamist):
I dunno: they both look pretty good to me. But you can tell that the lefthand picture is stretched, and the effect is to make Christina look..well, fat.
The New York Times explains:
The NY Times has now replaced the image, saying: “The photo was slightly distorted inadvertently due to an error during routine processing.” Take that for what it’s worth. This is a screenshot taken prior to the replacement.
That’s actually easy to believe – anybody who’s done any internet work has accidentally stretched a picture now and then. Well, I have. So it could’ve been an accident.
It’s just so very convenient that this precise accident took place in a blog post written to snark about Christina being “big.”
On the other hand: at least the torch-bearers of mainstream fashion were deriding a less-than-healthy body image this time. Instead of promoting it as the image of beauty.

She’s just jealous.
