Danica Patrick Superbowl ad…banned!

February 4, 2010

Has everyone seen at least a couple of GoDaddy.com’s television ads?

If not, watch the Superbowl this Sunday. You will.

Generally, these ads have three things in common: Danica Patrick, at least one other voluptuous actress, and the implied promise of further disrobing in a longer version of the commercial, available only online.

Well. According to the Auto Channel, CBS has…disinvited…one of Danica’s GoDaddy ads from appearing in this year’s Superbowl broadcast.

Here’s the ad:

Now here’s the two that will air during the Superbowl:

Notice the difference? Two feature various states of undress or, at least, the promise thereof. The other – the banned ad – doesn’t.

Well, okay, there are some women in swimsuits in the background. Still. The banned ad features a large African-American man with a decidedly effeminate manner. No…wait…it features a successful fashion industry entrepreneur with a decidedly effeminate – possibly homosexual – manner.

I wonder which adjective, noun, or adjectival phrase made CBS say “no, thanks?”

Thanks for the tip, Pat.

One more thing: it’s not really surprising that GoDaddy.com got an ad disinvited from the Superbowl. It’s happened to them before.
