Palin-mania vs. Danica-mania…this time it’s in heels.

February 15, 2010

Alternate title: Catfight VIII?

Well, no. Let’s not do that.

The story:

Palin-mania easily surpassed Danica-mania at Daytona International Speedway on Sunday.

While Patrick got all the headlines for the better part of two weeks, she had no stake in the Daytona 500. Palin did, and as a VIP guest for the race, she ate up all the attention

She could hardly get out of the drivers’ meeting, the story says. Took forever to sign all the autographs and pose for all the pictures. And:

One fan asked where her husband, Todd, was on Valentine’s Day. Palin said he couldn’t make it because he’s in Alaska preparing for the Iron Dog, the world’s longest snow-mobile race.

Cool.

Part of me does wonder where Danica is, politically. Is she down with the rest of NASCAR nation? Or does the IRL circuit steer more toward European lines of thinking?

But, if she has political leanings of her own, she should keep them to herself. Oh, of course she can tell me. I’d be interested to hear, and I’d keep it to myself. Maybe once we’re done finalizing that “Danica Patrick: official NASCAR and IRL driver of TrogloPundit?” Danica? Whaddaya say?

But publicly, she should remember that half of her fan base disagrees with her. Don’t enter the arena, Danica, until your legacy is secure and you’re ready to run for office, at which time I will gratefully accept the position of press secretary. Just concentrate on racing, photo shoots, and new GoDaddy.com commercials until then.
