The answer: birthdays! The Trog, as you’re already aware, turned on year old on Friday Thursday, February 18. Guess who else had a birthday that day?

Cybill Shepherd, who turned 60 on Friday. And:

Vanna White, who turned 53. How friggin’ long has she been on Wheel of Fortune?

In 1982, White auditioned to become the letter-turning assistant on Wheel of Fortune, a job that Susan Stafford had recently vacated. Producer Merv Griffin selected her over two other finalists, and her first episode as Pat Sajak’s assistant presenter aired December 13, 1982. White remained with the daytime version of Wheel until its cancellation in 1991.

Twenty-eight years. I wonder who the other two finalists were?

Incidentally, I saw that show just last night, and she doesn’t even turn the letters anymore. She just touches them now, and they change.

Must be a union job.

Jillian Michaels, the hardass trainer from that reality show where they see who can lose the most weight. She turned 36. And:

Leilani is, it seems odd to me, also a rabid environmentalist. I wonder what her car runs on.
