The NYT’s Peter Baker: Obama Turns His Back On the Press

At a ceremony to sign a bill promoting press freedom around the world on Monday, President Obama refused to take questions from reporters.

He was, apparently, trying to avoid questions about Tuesday’s election results. But isn’t this kind of becoming a pattern? And if so, why?

Let the speculation begin: Obama’s pushing away the press to piss them off, so they’ll give worse coverage to Democrats, thus making November’s elections worse for his own side. More Republicans in office equals power, equalling responsibility, for Republicans, which gives Obama what every politician needs: an enemy.

It’s almost Rovian in its cunning.

But that means Obama’s crew knows what it’s doing, and you know how I hate to give them any credit for knowing what they’re doing.
