71% of Democrats agree that Obama should nationalize BP? UPDATED
UPDATE II - I received a reply to my initial email, offering to answer my questions. I asked:
I’d like to see the questions that were asked, and any demographic breakdowns of the answers – by gender, age, race – did you ask about political leanings? Hard left, soft left; hard Democrat, soft Democrat, etc., or try to ascertain that? If so, do you have the data broken down by those subgroups? Also, where did you get your list of respondents?
Anything else I should ask?
UPDATE – I’m looking to email somebody at U.S.E. to ask them for more details, which I’ll do just as soon as I find an email address or contact page. I’m having a little bit of blogger’s remorse: I was just going to post about The Hill’s story: Obama calls $20 billion BP escrow account for claims a ‘good start,’ and thought a reference to Rosie O’Donnell would be apropos. I found this press release (see below) while googling around for that.
Anyway, I think I’ve made the point that I’m not entirely satisfied with this poll’s results. Just take it with a grain of salt. Updates later, if I have any.
END UPDATE.
This is too good not to check:
New Poll by A.H.F. for U.S.E. News shows 71% of registered Democrats agreeing with Rosie O’Donnell in nationalizing BP.
Rosie O’Donnell is not alone in her calls to nationalize BP. If President Obama were to move on the oil giant to clean up the Gulf Oil Disaster, 71% of Democrats would applaud the action.
Well doesn’t that just confirm my dearly-held preconceived notions. I wonder if that’s what Obama meant when he said BP’s $20 billion escrow fund was “a good start?”
The poll was conducted by a firm called Abrams, Herzog & Filippi, of whom I have never heard. Their client for the poll is something called the United States of Earth, which, despite the one-world sounding name, appears to be a right-wing organization.
I’ve never heard of them, either.
The data they’ve made available claims they polled 2,236 registered Democrats over two days earlier this month.
Things that sound too yes, exactly, to be true usually are. This particular thing that sounds too yes, exactly, to be true…while it sure does confirm my preconceived notions…this isn’t an “ah-hah” moment. This is an OMG moment.
I hope it’s a load of crap.

Others have pointed this out before, but it bears repeating: how do you nationalize a FOREIGN company?
