Dane County GOP: thanks, liberals, for voting to impeach Obama
From the local Republican Party that brought you “Republican Party of Dane County Apologizes For Its Opposition To Obamacare,” another classic press release:
Republican Party of Dane County Thanks The Dane County Board For Future Impeachment Of Obama
August 16th, 2010 will mark three years since the Dane County Board voted to impeach George Bush and Dick Cheney. The Board members were greeted as conquering heroes at cocktail parties for months. Rumors that one of the members shattered an ulna patting himself on the back afterward remain unconfirmed.
The Board gave three main reasons for impeaching Bush and Cheney. First was the “illegal” war in Iraq and Afghanistan. Obama is following the Bush/Petraeus plan in Iraq to the letter, has expanded the war in Afghanistan to the point that the eight bloodiest months for US troops there have all come since Obama took office, and has even expanded the war into Pakistan.
The second reason was warrant-less wiretapping of Americans, which referred to the FISA Act that caused Keith Olbermann to accuse George Bush of waging “terrorism against his own people”. Of course, Senator Obama voted for FISA, and has vociferously defended the bill since taking over the Presidency.
The third reason was Guantanamo Bay, and abuse of prisoners there. Despite signing an “official order” on his first full day as President to close “Gitmo” and eliminate abuse of prisoners, Obama will not close Gitmo in the foreseeable future, and Reuters is among many news agencies that have reported that abuse there has “ramped up” since Obama took office.
So by their own metrics, the Dane County Board should vote to impeach Barack Obama. And we’re sure they will. Certainly nobody would dare accuse the Dane County Board of putting petty partisan politics and their incessant need to get invited to the most elite cocktail parties in town over solving real problems. So we’re just here to remind the Dane County Board of their true mission – to impeach the President. Let us know when you get started.

You need a sense of humor to be a Republican in Madison. And they are, after all, Republicans in Madison.
