Crazy people do stuff, news at 11
Have you ever wanted to cross the Pacific Ocean in a boat made of trash? No? Meet David de Rothschild and friends: “A catamaran made from 12,500 reclaimed plastic bottles sailed into Sydney Harbour on Monday after spending four months crossing 8,000 nautical miles of the Pacific Ocean to raise awareness about marine pollution.”
Which, despite the title of this post, is a neat idea and quite an accomplishment. The point, apparently, was to raise awareness of the damage done to oceans through pollution. So they made a boat. Out of garbage, basically. That’s recycling!
Only problem is, once you’ve taken your ride in the boat made of trash, isn’t it just trash again?
Not if you berth it in Rhode Island.
