Now: that’s given current spending trends. At least, I assume. Normally, I’d say something now like: “and we all know how reliable future trendlines are.” Hockey stick, anyone?

Except this particular trendline is government spending. It’s politicians, bringing the pork home to their constituents. Keeping the vast hordes of special interest groups from picketing their offices in wheelchairs. Funding a building in the district that can be named after them.

So if anything, this is probably low.
