    Didn’t Krugman, while extolling the virtues of FDR, note that it wasn’t until WWII exploded on the scene that the Great Depression began to turn around? Was he implying that we need another ‘good war’ to get this economy purring along again?

    Yes, but he didn’t originate the “it’s about jobs, jobs, jobs” line.
