FavreWatch – Brett Favre ties the NFL sack(ed) record!

October 17, 2010

Alternate title: Ties Are Like Kissing Your Sister, if your sister is a 300-pound defensive lineman plowing into you and then landing on you as you hit the ground.

No, I am not going to make some awful joke about how Favre is “sacking” the “sacked” record. Because this is a class establishment, right here.

The story: count ‘em: one, two, three! Three sacks the Dallas Cowboys recorded today while losing to Brett Favre and the Minnesota Viqueens…three sacks, which brings Favre’s career total to 516 – tying John Elway’s NFL record!

Yeah, I figured you’d feel that way about it, Brett.

Favre also extended his NFL records in attempts, completions, yards, touchdowns (suck it, Manning!), and fumbles, and came one start closer to breaking the record for most games started in a career.

But most importantly, next Sunday, Favre will bring his 516 career sacks to…Lam-beau Field, where it is likely – nay, just short of certain - that he will break the NFL career record for being thrown bodily to the ground and landed upon by a 250-pound (at least!) opposing player.

Who do you suppose it’ll be? Clay Matthews is going to be the popular choice, of course, and he’ll probably be back on the field next week. But…I dunno. I’m kind of hoping for Charles Woodson. Or maybe Frank Zombo. A rookie. He was only three years old when Favre’s career started.

Or…hey, how about Morgan Burnett? Is he still hurt? He was only one when Favre was a rookie!

Are you going to be there on Sunday night?

I’ll be in the northwest corner, 6 yard line. I’ll buy the first beer if your there.
