The magic of the internet, making sure I see the last 5 minutes of the Marquette-Syracuse game!

March 20, 2011

Arriving home at 8 pm after driving my daughter back to college, I instantly took possession of the remote control and changed the channel to where I assumed the Marquette-Syracuse game would be. And then I checked another channel, and then another.

I did these things over the raucous protests of two grade-school-age children, who had been watching a Harry Potter movie. Or, at least, that’s what my wife tells me. I didn’t hear anything. And besides, it was time to get ready for bed.

As for the game…nothing. The VCU-Purdue blowout on one channel, the start of Kansas-Illinoyance on another. Something called “Undercover Boss” on the third.

What. The. Hell.

Turning to my computer, where at least I could keep closer track of the score, I vented on Twitter:

Within minutes, I received responses from @NickSchweitzer, @Nightshade52, @swellybroRG, @kevinbinversie, and @deaninwaukesha, telling me:

Tru TV. Never heard of it, but fine. I looked. Nope, no Tru Tv. I’ve got Dish Network, which only offers it at a higher level of subscription.

But never fear! A googling, three mouse clicks, and BAM! I’m watching the game on Tru TV on my 22-inch computer monitor!

Magic, people. It was magic.
