Harry Reid: dump the Tea Party, Republicans, for your own good!
I know, all you Republicans out there are so grateful to Senator Reid for having your best interests at heart:
“I am extremely disappointed that after weeks of productive negotiations with Speaker Boehner, Tea Party Republicans are scrapping all the progress we have made and threatening to shut down the government if they do not get all of their extreme demands,” Reid said in a statement.
“The division between the Tea Party and mainstream Republicans is preventing us from reaching a responsible solution on a long-term budget that will make smart cuts while protecting American jobs, and prevented negotiations from taking place over the weekend even as the clock ticks toward a government shutdown,” he added.
Actually, the “division” that’s “preventing us from reaching a responsible solution” is the division between Democrats and fiscal reality. Or maybe it’s the division between Democrats and political courage. Or Democrats and simple addition. I dunno.
The simple fact that Reid is floating a wedge between the Tea Party and the GOP is evidence that the Tea Party is the best thing that ever happened to the GOP. That’s my brilliant commentary.
What’s really fascinating, though, is how so many people – including seasoned political observers – will treat Reid’s statement as if it’s sincere, and will waste breath, ink, and electrons debating whether or not he’s right.

Never Take Advice from Your Enemies
Indeed. In fact, one is better off doing exactly the opposite of what one’s enemies say. Until, that is, one’s enemies catch on to this strategy, after which one should follow one’s enemies’ advice to the letter.
The moral: have stupid enemies.
