Sitting!

Scientists at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Louisiana analyzed the lifestyles of more than 17,000 men and women over about 13 years, and found that people who sit for most of the day are 54 percent more likely to die of heart attacks.

Huh. This story was funnier the last time it came around.

Snark aside, I wouldn’t mind trying out one of those standing desks. Failing that, I’ve sat in a few chairs that were the exact opposite of ergonomic. Kinda forces you to get up more often, just to get the feeling back in their butt.

So there. Sitting isn’t the problem. The problem is overly comfortable chairs.

Related: having spent 8 hours today in exactly one of those not-meant-for-8-hours type of chair listening to a long litany of complaints about the Governor’s budget bill, I’m not sure if my butt hurts more from the chair or from the long line of complainants looking to rip me a new one.
