What a tease.
From the “Well Why Didn’t You Say That In The First Place” Department, this headline in The Hill:
Sen. Kohl reported no fundraising activity for the first quarter
What! No fundraising! You think maybe he’s gonna retire?
The lede paragraph:
Sen. Herb Kohl (D-Wis.) reported no fundraising activity in the first quarter of this year.
What! No fundraising! You think maybe he’s gonna retire?
This is awesome! Senator Burri, here we come! Now we just gotta figure out which Burri!
But then:
But he loaned his campaign account $1 million late last year, which was seen as a sign that he’ll run for a fifth term.
In their defense, I’d never have clicked on the story if they’d put that little nugget in the headline. So. Nice hit-whoring, Hill.

I lent my campaign a million, too, but my wife spent it on grandbaby toys.
