Marx: “the little man who invented hunger.”

Carlos Alberto Montaner, writing about the once and future Cuba:

…while they applaud revolutionary mottos, young people call Marx “the little old man who invented hunger.”

The adults, in confidence, acknowledge this outlook. After 52 years of dictatorship, without a hostile parliament or an opposition that could hinder the government’s work, the six basic elements that determine the quality of life of any modern society have decayed into nightmares.

Well, come on. If us greedy Westerners would only spend a little more of our disposable income – and, really, at some point don’t we have too much disposable income? – on helping Cuba, then things would be so much better there.

One might ask why a Communist paradise would need help from a pseudo-capitalist neighbor, but shut up!

Just don’t tell Detroit. They’ll get all mad.
