In Single Guy’s News today…
This is a slight departure from my usual “Single Guy’s News” habits, in that this one has to do with a divorce:
Five years after tying the knot, Christopher Knight and Adrianne Curry have decided to end their marriage, their manager, Phil Viardo, told Hollyscoop.com.
“After starting a relationship with what seemed to be irreconcilable differences, the couple has reached a period where those differences are no longer appreciated,” Viardo, told the site.
Which seems like a weird way of saying: they were a really odd couple to begin with, and none of us could figure out why they were together. Plus:
She’s taller than he is.
In case you don’t know who Christopher Knight is:
Knight, 53, known for his role as Peter Brady in the 1970s’s hit The Brady Bunch…
Peter Brady. That’s who Knight is. And you thought Greg was the cool one.
(Knight) met Curry, 28, while they were housemates on the VH1 series The Surreal Life. Their on-screen romance let to their own spin-off series My Fair Brady, which documented their engagement, wedding and first year of marriage.
Given all that Hollywood-style mess, I’m surprised they lasted as long as they did. But maybe I’m cynical.
I should also point out: there may be reason to doubt this story:
As of Sunday evening, the former America’s Next Top Model contestant had yet to address the split on her official Twitter page. “May 29, 2006 I maried Christopher Anton Knight,” she wrote. “”Enjoy your weekend! I certainly am!”
As of this writing, that’s still her latest tweet. And if she hasn’t tweeted it, then it hasn’t happened yet. That’s just how it is.
Note: In it’s earlier form, “Single Guy’s News” (and Single Girl’s News) did report on divorces and other split-ups, in order to keep all you single guys out there informed as to the latest spectacularly beautiful and glamorous goddess/diva joining the ranks of available women with whom you have no shot. But writing about, for example, Princess Madeleine’s called-off wedding or Leann Rimes’ divorce seemed a little too much like celebrating divorce.
And I didn’t like doing that.
I’m making an exception in this case, however, simply because Adrianne Curry is the self-proclaimed “Mistress of the Dorks,” who plays World of Warcraft, and dresses up for science fiction conventions. For example:
Total nerd bait, man, which makes her prime Single Guy’s News material, becuase, come on, none of the guys who’ll be fantasizing about becoming the next Mr. Adrianne Curry have any shot. None whatsoever.
Plus, I’m a semi-recovered nerd myself. So.
One more thing: we’ll go ahead and put Christopher Knight up there with Salman Rushdie among the guys we’d most like to buy a beer.
