Surely, Al Qaeda sees me for the threat to their way of life that I am.

June 17, 2011

Al Qaida has a hit list:

An al-Qaida-linked website has posted a potential hit list of targets that include names and photos of several U.S. officials and business leaders, calling for terrorists to target these Americans in their own homes, NBC New York has learned.

“In their own homes.” Well that’s ominous. Almost as ominous as that description: “several U.S. officials and business leaders.” I mean, you could describe me as a “U.S. official,” but you’d be stretching that pretty far. Stretch Armstrong couldn’t take that, even. You’d have to stretch even farther to call me a “business leader.”

Okay, fine, that wouldn’t be stretching. That’d be lying.

But, come on. Surely Al Qaeda sees me for the threat I am! Surely they can see the blow to American morale that would follow loss of The Trog!

Maybe the reporter just didn’t describe it very well. Yeah, bad journalism! That must be it!

The FBI has sent out a new intelligence bulletin to law enforcement agencies, warning that this new web-based threat, while not a specific plot, is very detailed. The bulletin said the list includes leaders “in government, industry and media.”

Hah! See? I work in government! Well, okay, only in state government, but still. And I hobby in the media!

I must be on the list!

The FBI has notified those individuals who are named.

Uh…well, maybe my notification is still in the mail?

Lance: I think you’re on their super secret list. Much more prestigious.
