So let’s say the states removed any and all requirements for new voter registrations…

June 20, 2011

Anybody, from anywhere, could go ahead and submit however many new voter registrations as they wanted could gather, with no validation or confirmation that the name on the registration was a real, live, legitimate voter legally residing in that district.

Would that also constitute “rigging” the election?

E.J. Dionne:

How states are rigging the 2012 election

Requiring I.D. at the polls. It’s just like Jim Crow!

More. Ann Althouse says Dionne’s being racist:

…he himself propagates racism in the form of an assumption that black people have trouble performing the simplest task.

Actually, he’s saying that about Democrat constituencies in general; not just black people. Which…well, they are voting Democrat, so how capable can they be?

And one more thing. I love this little nugget from Dionne’s column:

In Texas, for example, the law allows concealed handgun licenses as identification but not student IDs.

Ha! I wonder if Florida allows AARP membership cards?
