Should I waste any time looking for Politico’s 2007 or 2008 story titled “Barack Obama’s Thin Legislative Resume?”
Ha! Just kidding! That would be a huge waste of time. But if you’re looking for their column this year titled “Michelle Bachmann’s Thin Legislative Resume,” then look no further! Because when it’s a Republican candidate, suddenly resume and experience matter.
While we’re on the subject, here’s how Bachmann responded when Chris Wallace asked her “are you a flake?”
“I’m 55 years old. I’ve been married 33 years,” she said. “I’m not only a lawyer, I have a post-doctorate degree in federal tax law from William and Mary. I’ve worked in serious scholarship … my husband and I have raised five kids, we’ve raised 23 foster children. We’ve applied ourselves to education reform. We started a charter school for at-risk kids. I’ve also been a state senator and member of the United States Congress for five years.’”
As Pundette points out: a lot of that sounds a lot like “community organizing.” Which means she’s got more experience than Obama did.
Note: this is not a TrogloEndorsement. Just my neverending optimism that, one day, purportedly journalistic organizations like Politico will actually act like objective journalists.
