Following in Dad’s footsteps

September 2, 2011

UPDATE - wow, that’s a whole lotta people coming here looking for Angela Rypien. Since you made the effort, here, have a video of Angela getting flagged for unnecessary roughness in her game at Green Bay. Bogus call, you ask me. She was clearly just trying to disengage.

END UPDATE.

You all remember Mark Rypien, right? NFL quarterback, Superbowl XXVI MVP? Well he’s had a child, and that child is following in Dad’s old quarterback footsteps:

It kind of figures that the daughter of Mark Rypien, Super Bowl XXVI MVP for the Washington Redskins in 1992, might be interested in athletics.

Angela Rypien is. She is expected to play quarterback for the Seattle Mist this fall in the Lingerie Football League…according to the LFL, Kent.com and observant male fans everywhere.

Not quite the same as leading an NFL team to the Superbowl, but damn well close enough.

Meanwhile, former NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Doug Flutie’s daughter is also working a new football gig:

There will once again be a Flutie on the New England Patriots sideline this season. No, Doug Flutie isn’t coming out of retirement at the age of 48.

Instead, the former NFL quarterback’s daughter, Alexa, will be making her debut as a rookie cheerleader for the Pats.

This was Alexa’s fifth tryout with the Buffalo Jills but the first time she’s made the squad, meaning that if the Bills had made it to a fifth straight Superbowl (instead of quitting after four), they’d finally have won!

Congratulations to the proud fathers!
