I wish I had something poignant and memorable to say about the 10th anniversary of 911…
…but I really just don’t. The good news is: if you’re reading this, you probably have a lot of regular stops around the blogosphere, so you’ll have found plenty poignant and memorable statements out there already.
I have appreciated all the remembrances, including a number of stories about that day I hadn’t heard before. Naturally, I’m thinking about it. It’s one of three events in my lifetime that have become “I remember exactly where I was when…” moments.
Sitting here watching Atlanta punt the ball at the start of the 4th quarter already down 24 points in Chicago, I’m sensing a metaphor bubbling up from deep inside the troglodytial ether. You can’t win unless you do what you have to do to win, and I’m wondering how Atlanta fans (or anti-Chicago fans) feel about the Falcons’ efforts so far today.
Go ahead, fill the metaphor out yourselves.
On the other hand, David Ignatius:
It’s an interesting anomaly of Barack Obama’s presidency that this liberal Democrat, known before the 2008 election for his antiwar views, has been so comfortable running America’s secret wars.
Hat tip Insty. It’s a lot easier to see the results of decision-making in football than in foreign policy. On the other hand, 9/11 was pretty easy to see. So we are unfortunately left with hoping President Obama is better at secret war than he is at economic policy.
