Wait…Herman Cain supported TARP? But I thought he was a Real Republican!

September 28, 2011

This Dan Mitchell post led me to this one, where I learned:

I’ve already said nice things about Herman Cain, but someone needs to ask him whether he still thinks TARP was a good idea, as he wrote back in 2008.

Dear God! But…but…only RINOs voted for that Big Government screw-up! Didn’t they? Wasn’t that Big Government getting in bed with Big Business but screwing all us taxpayers instead of each other?

That’s what I heard. And Cain was okay with that?

And that’s only piling onto yesterday’s awful news: next-in-line Conservative Savior Chris Christie is soft on immigration, and gun control, and federal meddling in education!

I’m starting to think there’s no candidate out there that I agree with on every single issue. But if so, what am I supposed to do? How can I cast a vote for somebody who doesn’t toe every single line I draw!

Its only fair if you report the FACTS. Mr. Cain DID in fact support TARP – as it was PRESENTED originally – as did MOST conservatives. How it was IMPLEMENTED was a different story indeed!

Sure, Keep settling for a little socialism in your candidates, all the while calling the libertarians idiots, and congratulate yourself when we move further left because the GOP slowed the pace. That’s worked out so well for us in the past, right? Even GWB bothered to run as a conservative – he didn’t make the switch until after he was elected.

Herman Cain hasn’t mentioned cutting a single dollar, a single agency, or even a single person from the bloated bureaucracy in DC. He just wants to “fix” it all.

I’m sure he’s a nice guy, and a good CEO, but he’s not really interested in the same things I am – the deep, soul searching, radical changes in our philosophies that are ultimately the only chances we have to save this country.
