Having recently seen the movie “Thor,” I’m tempted to be finished with superhero movies entirely.
It just wasn’t that good, and it’s not like you didn’t know how the plot was going to play out:
1. Hero introduced;
2. hero gains powers;
3. hero struggles with identity;
4. hero confronts self;
5. hero confronts bad guy;
6. fight;
7. hero wins.
The only difference with Thor, obviously, is he already had his powers. So in his case, #2 was “hero loses powers,” and #4a was “hero regains powers.”
Still. Sticking to the usual template – as all these movies do, and this one was no different – leaves little room for character and plot development. And, since we’re all very used to today’s level of special effects already, “Thor” leaves us (okay, maybe just me) feeling just a little bit cheated.
Where was the wow? There wasn’t any wow!
All that said:
Oooooo. Sweeeet.
I’ll probably wait until it hits a Redbox (I’m cheap that way), but…danged if I can’t be influenced by a little clever editing.

Is “clever editing” a euphemism for “Scarlett Johansson in tight jumpsuits”?
