That’s Mark Block…oh, right, he told you that. Let me be perfectly clear: this ad isn’t awesome because of the cigarette. It is awesome for the sheer chutzpah. The “here’s who I am, and if you don’t like it, tough”-ness of it. It’s an anthem. A paean to individualism. When he says “we can take this country back,” he means from the nannies, and the nags, and the self-righteous finger-waggers who…oh, fer…gah! Will you just leave us alone already!
Liberalism = do things our way! Conservatism = just let us be!
No, I am not overthinking this.
