I stand in full solidarity with the #OccupyWallStreet cooks and workers who are getting sick of providing for freeloaders.
Yeah, I know: irony alert. Us Righties are gonna have fun with this:
The Occupy Wall Street volunteer kitchen staff launched a “counter” revolution yesterday — because they’re angry about working 18-hour days to provide food for “professional homeless” people and ex-cons masquerading as protesters.
…
Unhappiness with their unwelcome guests was apparent throughout the day.
“We need to limit the amount of food we’re putting out” to curb the influx of derelicts, said Rafael Moreno, a kitchen volunteer.
A security volunteer added that the cooks felt “overworked and underappreciated.”
Hey, I can relate. You work hard, and these people are taking advantage of you, demanding that you work for them when you never agreed to in the first place! You work your ass off all day, every day, and instead of getting to enjoy the fruits of your labor – even if that’s just a little recognition, a relaxing evening, and a nice hot meal – somebody comes along and demands more!
I’m with you, volunteer kitchen staff. You guys work hard, but you’re working hard for a reason. For a purpose. And for all these people to come through just looking for a freebie?
You don’t deserve that. You deserve to have your hard work helping the cause you agreed to work hard for.
Granted, it would be really nice of you to feed these other guys, too. Generous. Charitable. Brotherly. You clearly have the resources available. And it’s well within your philosophy: we should all be sharing more of what we have, especially those of us who have more than others.
From each according to his ability, to each according to his need!
But charity, generosity, and brotherhood can be taken advantage of, and in this case, it clearly is being taken advantage of, and those doing the supplying are under no obligation to allow themselves to be taken advantage of.
Your labor. Your effort. Your time. It belongs to you, not to anyone else. Stand strong!

Oh god yes, they will be mocked. My Irony-o-meter just blew it’s fuse, and the three extra I had all exploded on the shelf just from being in proximity to that.
You’re obviously missing the point. It’s not the same. There’s a big difference between ME demanding that someone richer should share his wealth with me, and someone poorer than me demanding that I should share MY wealth with HIM.
What’s mine is mine. What’s yours is negotiable.
When you’re right, you’re right, Jay. I did miss the point.
