Today’s date: 59…
…in binary.
Hey! I see you rolling your eyes over there. You better enjoy this while it lasts, people, because tomorrow’s the last one of these until the year 2200 2100. Almost ninety years from now. And how many of us will even be here to enjoy that?
Fewer. That’s how many.
By the way, tomorrow’s going to be doubly cool. Nerdy. One of those.

UPDATE - As a commenter pointed out, the year 2200 is 189 years from now, not “almost ninety.” The good news is, that was only half of my mistake: the next binary date will be January 1, 2100, not 2200.

2200 is 189 years from now.
I actually used a calculator to double-check it because I didn’t want to look stoopid.
You’re still using a two-digit year? Isn’t that the sort of thinking that led to the Y2K fiasco?
we actually talked about this in my Digital Electronics class today – it’s the last school day that’s a binary day (we have tomorrow off, of course) for the rest of their lives. What, they asked? Yeah, the next one is 1-1-00, and you won’t be around in 88 years. If you are, I told them, I’ll buy you a beer. They chuckled, too.
Happy Binary Day.
