Polls suck. Polls taken by randomly calling phone numbers and hoping to get an adult on the line really suck.
But, feh, you say. Nobody in their right minds would ever take a poll like that. Or, fine, maybe they would, but they wouldn’t expect it to be taken seriously.
Or, well…
A new poll of state residents found 58% of them supported recalling Gov. Scott Walker.
The Wisconsin Public Radio/St. Norbert College Survey said 38% opposed recalling the Republican governor. The poll of 482 Wisconsin adults was conducted from Nov. 1 to Nov. 10 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 5 percentage points.
Did you see that? “482 Wisconsin adults.” Not “likely voters.” Not even “registered voters.” Adults.
But maybe that’s just sloppy reporting. Let’s look at the poll itself, and…
Survey Information:
Random Selection, Landline and Cell Telephone Survey
Number of Adult Wisconsin Residents: 482
Random selection.
Polls suck. This one sucks even worse than most.
But don’t get cocky.
One more thing: if liberals/Democrats are planning on doing any crowing about this latest “poll,” then I’m sure they’ll do the same about this one:
And this one:
And the one showing how both Romney and Gingrich would beat Obama.
I’ll just go ahead and watch for those stories.
