Falk you, all you mother Falkers!
Please excuse the language. Or, rather, the alluded-to language. And any such language – actual or implied – that might appear later in this post.
Kathleen Falk is the former County Executive of Dane County, Wisconsin. She ran for attorney general in 2006, and for governor in 2010 (but lost in the primary), and is a potential recall opponent for Governor Scott Walker.
I misuse her name like this, because:
Some passersby are not pleased with a Baraboo motel co-owner’s quip about the ongoing attempt to recall Republican Gov. Scott Walker.
The quip – highly political at best, borderline obscene at worst – is on display on the marquee in front of the motel on county Highway BD north of Baraboo.
The message, spelled out in plastic block lettering on the motel’s roadside marquee: “RECALL THE KOCH SUCKER NOW!”
“Koch,” as in the Koch brothers: the Left’s latest favorite scapegoat for all things evil. It’s actually pronounced “coke,” but, well, Falk isn’t pronounced the same as…
…well, you know.
The sign’s actually on State Highway 12 – a very busy road – and it’s been like that for several months. Free speech? Sure. One wishes that people would show a little more discretion about their First Amendment rights, at least in public, but they’re still First Amendment rights. So feel free. Embarrass yourself with your complete lack of class.
I hope you’re embarrassing your cause, too, in front of the rest of the state.
Just add this to the list. The guy who signed eighty recall petitions. Pink Slip Guy, who poured a beer on a Republican assemblyman’s head. The crowd at Fighting Bob Fest, who cheered when a speaker said he wished it was urine instead. The infantile core of Madison protestors, who want more than anything to provoke a confrontation with a Republican legislator.
Those are just the examples that come immediately to mind. The point: these people believe that the ends justify the means. They’re willing to do anything - flout decency, ignore courtesy, break the law. Their cause is Just, you see, so anything they do…it’s not just warranted. Not just necessary. It’s acceptable. Rational. In the name of winning, anything is permitted.
UPDATE – Linked at The Linkiest, and at Althouse, where the commenters are going brutal talking about the motel.
UPDATE II - In the comments, Purple Penguin notes a few examples of Walker supporters acting like angry children. I think there’s a difference between those examples and mine, but you can judge for yourselves. Also: hey, Walker supporters, don’t do crap like this. The Walker-haters make me mad, too, but if we start acting like thugs it messes up my Righteous Indignation.
UPDATE III - I received an email from Todd Krysiak of the Baraboo News Republic today (January 2, 2012) asking me to remove the picture from this blog post, as it is copyrighted material. I did credit the photo, but did not receive permission to use it, so I’ve taken it down. You can see it at the link, if you like. Next time I drive by there, if the sign is still up, I’ll take a picture of it myself.

Winning!
I’ve been saying this for years. The hate left can justify absolutely anything as long as they see it as furthering their cause. They have no ethics.
Oh, I thought you said “cork soakers.”
Fred? RDW Fred? I think you’re projecting. Who’s bring the hate to what they’re doing? Who’s bringing the watermelon seeds and KFC coupons? Just a few days ago, you said “If they don’t hate you then you are doing it wrong.”
I’m sure the 4 winds would love it if you left a review of their fine establishment.

Wow, classy. . .
Baraboo?! I thought it was just the Madison-weirdos that are Anti-Walker?!! That ain’t even Dane County…are you sure about where that hotel is located?
That said, it ain’t just folks on “the left” who are acting improperly…for every example you mentioned in this post, there are three examples of petition-gatherings being spit on and/or violently attacked. Obviously there are people on ALL sides of this issue who beleive that In the name of winning, anything is permitted
Spit on? Violently attacked? Cite your sources. I’m not saying people on the Right are all lily-white saints and nuns, but I’ve seen no reports of any spitting or violent attacks.
Two separate incidents involving spitting on recall volunteers:

Don’t get me wrong, I think that the motel sign is kinda tasteless, especially in a tourist area near family-friendly Dells. But your point about how “these people believe that the ends justify the means…In the name of winning, anything is permitted” seems more properly directed at those who are actually hurling spittle and fists rather than mere words.
Well, there you go. I wonder why the woman writing at DailyKos didn’t report that to the police, though? At any rate, these are examples of a few people who can’t control themselves. These people lost their tempers. The examples of “ends justify the means” I’m citing from the Left are planned out, purposeful. Not random and spontaneous.
Did I ever tell you the one about the cork soaker, the coke sacker and the sock tucker?
Another English Lit. PHD from U of W Madison finally got a job. Great.
